CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound found in the cannabis and hemp plant that is non-psychoactive and has been used for a variety of wellness and therapeutic purposes. One way to consume CBD is through vaping, where CBD is heated and inhaled in the form of a vapor. In 2022, an annual survey in the UK found that CBD vapes ranked top of the consumer cannabinoid product type.

How does CBD vape juice work?

CBD vapes work by heating a CBD-infused liquid, also known as CBD e-liquid or CBD vape juice, to a certain temperature. When the liquid is heated, it turns into a vapour that can be inhaled. The CBD in the vapour is then absorbed into the bloodstream through the lungs, providing fast and effective results. In terms of other CBD products, CBD vapes are the fastest for absorption.

What’s the difference between CBD vape and Nicotine E-Liquids?

CBD vapes are different from nicotine E-Liquids in several ways. The most obvious difference is that CBD vapes do not contain nicotine, a highly addictive substance found in traditional cigarettes. CBD vapes also tend to have a different taste and smell than nicotine E-liquids. Although most CBD vapes nowadays are flavoured there is usually some semblance of terpenes in the taste or the flavours are inspired by Cannabis Sativa strains.

Why would someone choose to vape CBD?

Someone might use CBD vapes for a variety of reasons. Some people use CBD vapes to help with anxiety and stress, while others use them to help with pain and inflammation. Some people also use CBD vapes to help with sleep, and others use them simply for the experience of vaping. CBD vapes are a convenient, fast-acting way to consume CBD and some people prefer it over other forms of consumption like tinctures, capsules or topicals.

It's worth noting that the FSA (Food Standards Agency) hasn't approved any CBD products for medical use and you should consult a healthcare professional before using CBD for any medical condition. Additionally, as vaping comes with some inherent risks as well, you should also consult with a professional and follow the instructions before using a CBD vape product. Most countries including the UK are legally allowed to sell CBD products that are designated for supplemental, vaping or cosmetic use.

What sort of device should you use for vaping CBD?

When it comes to vaping CBD, there are a few different types of vaping devices that can be used.

The most popular option is to use disposable CBD vape pens. These devices are pre-filled, pre-charged and come ready to use straight from the packaging. Most are draw-activated, making these the simplest devices available for newcomers. Brands often have disposable CBD devices available in varying CBD strengths and flavours. Once your device is finished with you can simply pick up another one.

Another popular option is a pre-filled CBD vape cartridge. These cartridges typically attach onto a battery, and the battery powers the heating element that vaporizes the liquid in the cartridge. These are easy to use and convenient, as you can simply pop on a new cartridge when the old one is empty.

Some use a refillable vape pen. These are similar to pre-filled cartridges, but they have a refillable tank that can be filled with your own CBD vape juice. They are usually slightly larger in size but offer more flexibility, allowing you to pick and choose your E-Liquids, try different brands and different flavours.

For more advanced users, there are also mods and atomizers that can be used to vape CBD. Mods are larger devices that can be customized with different atomizers, batteries, and tanks. These devices are typically more powerful and offer more control over the vaping experience, but they also tend to be more expensive and require more maintenance.

When choosing a vaping device, it's important to consider factors such as the type of E-Liquid you plan to use, your experience level, and your personal preferences. Do you plan on only vaping CBD? Do you want to vape CBD every so often or all the time? Do you vape regularly already or have you ever tried? It's also important to use devices that are manufactured by reputable companies and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

It's also important to note that CBD products are still going through the motions to establish clear, defining regulations, so it's important to research the product you are considering. Check the ingredients list and ensure that the product is made by a reputable company before making a purchase.

Which CBD vape should I buy?

When deciding on which CBD vape to buy, there are a few important things to consider:

1. CBD Quality:
Look for a product that uses high-quality, lab-tested CBD oil. A good quality CBD oil will have a consistent concentration of CBD and no THC (in the UK, CBD must contain less than 0.2% of THC).
2. Ingredients:
Check the ingredients list to ensure that the vape juice only contains ingredients that are safe to inhale. You should also make sure that it contains CBD oil and not just hemp seed oil as the two differ but can sometimes get confused together.
3. Brand Reputation:
Look for a reputable brand that is transparent about their production process and test their products for potency and purity.
4. Battery and Hardware quality:
Make sure the device has a good battery and sturdy hardware. A device with a long-lasting battery is great for on the go use. Also ensure that the device has features like temperature control and airflow control, if you are looking for a more customized experience.
5. Price:
Keep in mind that price is not always indicative of quality. Do some research and compare prices, quality and what you get for your money before making a decision.

It's also worth noting that it is not currently legal to sell CBD products with the claim that they can prevent, diagnose, treat or cure any disease or medical conditions. Be cautious of unrealistic or misleading claims when making a purchase.

Make sure before purchasing to do your own research and read reviews from other customers to see what they liked or disliked about a particular product or brand. Consult with a healthcare professional before starting to use CBD or any other supplement, especially for those who are currently taking medication.
