Top 10 Things to know about CBD

By now you’ve probably heard of CBD. As of the last few years CBD has become a craze most people either know much or little about. From the introduction of CBD products into the wider market spanning E-Liquids, cosmetics, gummies and more, here are the top 10 things to know about CBD to get you clued up on the craze.
Difference between CBD and THC
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the active compounds found in the cannabis plant. Likewise, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is also found in the same plant and is the compound that produces the psychoactive properties often thought of in conjunction with Cannabis. CBD does not produce the ‘high’ that is associated with cannabis, unlike THC.

Difference between full spectrum and CBD isolate
When looking at CBD products there are two terms you are likely to hear. CBD isolate is a term to describe the crystalline powder that contains CBD and is often used in products that include synthetic or natural flavours.
Full Spectrum oil contains more than just CBD, it also includes additional compounds such as cannabinoids, phytonutrients, chlorophyll, terpenes and flavonoids and can be more effective than CBD on its own.

CBD oil is not the same as hemp oil
CBD oil contains Cannabidiol which is extracted from the Cannabis plant and is usually combined with a base oil such as olive, coconut or MCT.
Hemp oil is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant and does not contain CBD or any other cannabinoids!
There are different ways of taking CBD
There’s a great variety of ways to work CBD into your daily routine. This allows for you to tailor your usage to your specific need and lifestyle.
Oils are infused with CBD and are placed under the tongue with a dropper to absorb the compounds quickly, perfect for those who struggle with taking pills or capsules. Creams and lotions have become extremely popular over the last couple years for a variety of benefits. Edibles are one of the most popular ways of taking CBD as they’re affordable, discrete, portable, and of course tasty. Vaping is another method which is among the fastest ways to experience the effects of CBD.

Is it legal?
Pure CBD is legal in the UK, unlike THC which is a controlled substance. For a CBD product to be sold containing THC (full spectrum), there must be no more than 1mg of any controlled substance in the final product. The laws in the USA are less clear-cut with many states legalizing CBD oil from hemp but not for sale as a supplement. For the USA, check your state here to see if CBD is legal in your area. Can you travel with CBD oil?
It is best to exercise caution when travelling with CBD oil. Although legal in the UK, some countries’ specific drug laws might apply to CBD products. In these countries it could be a criminal offence to carry such products. So perhaps leave your CBD products at home unless you’re completely sure!
When is the best time to take CBD?

CBD is not addictive
There have been many studies looking at the potential addiction of CBD. Many of these studies reported no signs that would indicate a potential for addiction when using CBD. Although it’s not completely clear as to why it’s not addictive, some scientists believe it is due to the compound not directly binding with your body’s chemical receptors. Instead, CBD helps to promote a state of balance.
CBD can help smokers quit
CBD itself can help reduce the cravings for cigarettes and nicotine, so CBD vapes are a great alternative for quitting smoking. Add in the benefit of them not being addictive and you’ve got yourself a great way to also quit nicotine, a very addictive substance that can hinder many smokers from quitting.
