In 2019, a UK survey found that around 6 million people in the UK were using CBD in some form, and estimates see this figure growing exponentially over the next few years. In fact, research published in 2020 noted that more than 8 million Britons were shopping for CBD products. So, it’s no surprise that more and more people are getting curious about CBD. With it, unsurprisingly, also came a slew of questions from those intrigued with CBD’s capabilities.

Without industry regulation, in comparison to other industries, potential users often have concerns about the safety and side effects of CBD. With the creation of CBD vapes which brings a whole new way to take CBD effectively and convenient, we decided to focus on this specifically, but the principles work across most CBD products.

Why CBD Vape and disposable CBD vape pens?

Vaping CBD became popular during the pandemic, no doubt when many were looking for an outlet and CBD began to become more of a household name. CBD vapes offer a much more convenient and easy way to take CBD thanks, especially to disposable CBD vape pens. These types of devices require little to no prior knowledge to use and can be enjoyed straight out of the packaging without a worry for maintenance.

Not only are they easy to use but CBD vapes are the ultimate way to absorb your CBD for the most impact. Bioavailability is probably a word you have heard thrown around when researching CBD – in short, it’s the amount of CBD you actually absorb in different types of CBD products. The higher the bioavailability, the more likely you are to get a good dose of CBD and CBD vapes to have the highest bioavailability of any CBD product. This means they are effective faster and stronger than other methods.

Another pro of CBD vapes is that they benefit from the vaping regulations that the UK have in place. Although most only pertain to nicotine-containing vapes, there are still strict rules that govern the ingredients of vapes to ensure the safety of users. So, any reputable British-made products like those from us here at Cali Greens will have CBD products that you can trust.

Can you overdose on CBD?

It’s a common question from many who are curious about taking CBD but are still on the fence – can you overdose on CBD? In short, the answer is no. CBD is widely accepted as a well-tolerated compound in the human body even in high doses.

In the UK, the FSA (Food Standards Agency) suggests that healthy adults should have no more than 70mg a day. This works out to roughly 28 drops of 5% strength CBD, or approximately a 2ml vape tank of 300mg CBD vape juice (3% strength). This might sound like a lot, and in truth, it is!

The usually recommended dose for CBD oral drops are around 2-3 drops taken 2-3 times a day. Likewise with vaping, due to its effectiveness with CBD, you find you need to use very little to keep you going.

What happens if you take too much CBD?

While CBD is generally well tolerated by most people, some users have reported side effects from CBD. These typically include fatigue, change in appetite, a dry mouth and dizziness, most of which pass easily or can be remedied. CBD vapes, like other vaping products, can make some people cough but this is usually due to incorrect inhalation (inhaling too quickly/sharply, or using a DTL method rather than MTL).

If you have concerns about potential side effects, then we recommend definitely speaking with your GP or healthcare provider before taking CBD. For those on medication, you must speak with your GP before using CBD as there could be potential interactions.

Ways you can minimise the risk of unwanted CBD side effects

One of the simplest methods to using CBD whilst being mindful of side effects is to start low and slow. Take your time and start with a low dosage which you can gradually increase until you find what dose works best for you. CBD is not a race and in fact, works better over time once you’ve built up CBD in your system – it can take weeks or even months to reach this point, it varies on your body, your dosage and the product’s bioavailability that you use.

Make sure to listen to your body or even keep a record of your days to keep tabs on any potential side effects that may make you want to stop using CBD. If you feel any discomfort of concerns, then you should speak with your GP or a healthcare provider. Many use CBD as part of their wellness routine and if it’s not helping your wellness then CBD may not be for you.

If you do feel any side effects there are some easy ways to help deal with them including drinking plenty of water, eating healthy foods and getting plenty of rest.

How much CBD vape should I use?

When it comes to CBD products, vapes and disposable vape pens make it easy for you to use and get CBD fast into your system. But unlike other CBD products, it may seem a little confusing how much CBD you’re actually getting with vaping.

The simple maths behind working out your CBD amount is this: divide the CBD strength by the amount in the bottle (that will give you the CBD per ml) – for disposable vapes, divide the CBD strength by the puff count for an average amount per puff.

For example, the Cali Greens CBD Go 1500 disposable vape pens contain 1000mg of CBD – one of the highest strengths available on the market. It also offers up to 1500 puffs which mean, with our quick calculation from above, you get around 0.7mg of CBD per puff.

So, if you want to get your daily allowance (which might not even be necessary for people who feel the effects quicker), you could have up to 100 puffs a day. To put this in perspective, many people are likely to use a single nicotine disposable vape, with up to 600 puffs, a day. CBD disposable vapes are likely to last you much longer than traditional nicotine vapes.

If we take, for example, our 1500 puff CBD GO disposable vape pens, if you used 100 puffs a day, your disposable could last you almost 2 weeks compared to smaller devices. That’s why the CBD Go 1500 not only offers top strengths but amazing value for money.

To round things off

Hopefully this article gives you a little more reassurance about CBD vaping and dosage with CBD. There is still a lot of ongoing research to scientifically validate CBD as a beneficial compound, so it is advised to do your research before choosing to use CBD. Make sure that if you do purchase CBD products, you do so from reputable companies like Cali Greens, to ensure that they are high-quality products that are safe to use.
