It should be no surprise that we are all different and these differences can even extend to how things react to us. We’ve mentioned before that CBD effects can differ between people, often due to biological factors. This means that the effects can be felt stronger by others, or it may take more CBD to be of benefit to some. But are there any differences between men and women?

ECS differences between women and men

For those who are already CBD fans, you’ve probably heard all about the ECS (Endocannabinoid System). If not, the ECS is a naturally occurring system in the body that helps with many functions and is believed to be how CBD interacts with our body. But what you might not know is that the ECS’s functions differ slightly between men and women, mainly because of hormones.

Research is still ongoing, but there have been some notes on how CBD interacts with hormones to work with the ECS. Although there isn’t enough research yet to make any medical claims regarding CBD, there has been anecdotal evidence about its usage for women in alleviating PMS symptoms, and improving libido and anxiety.

In men, some users have reported help with regulating blood pressure and erectile dysfunction. We cannot confirm these claims and Cali Greens make no medical claims regarding CBD. Users should research more about the effects and how they could benefit them for a clearer understanding.

One of the biggest differences that may be noticed between men and women using CBD, is the amount/strength needed. For example, men may notice they need to use more CBD or a higher strength, to get their desired effects. But generally, it is understood that there is no significant difference in improving well-being between men and women.

Who buys more CBD products?

A recent study looked at various elements of CBD use including the demographics of CBD users. From their study of 2,400 participants, they noted that the majority who bought CBD (58%) were women. Although those who preferred THC-dominant products were more likely to be men (52%).

In terms of age, CBD users typically make up the ages 35-49 as the most popular age range. Even though, many report that men and women often use CBD for very similar reasons, women appear to make up the majority of those who purchase CBD products.

How much CBD should you use?

The FSA suggest that you should use no more than 70mg of CBD a day, and the chances are you won’t need to use the maximum amount. As mentioned before, the amount you use can vary depending on the person, so what works for one may not for another. Generally, the rule of thumb is to start low and slow.

Try a low-strength CBD oil or vape and take a couple of drops/puffs in the morning and the evening. The key is to build up your tolerance and the amount in your body so that you are effectively topping up your CBD amount as you go along. If you don’t notice any effects within a week then try upping your dosage. By making sure to keep tabs on your usage, you’re more likely to understand your perfect dosage.

In conclusion

Overall, the only difference between CBD use in men and women, is that there may potentially be unique benefits to each gender, but not enough to be significant. More research perhaps needs to be done to understand and confirm these current conceptions, but predominantly it seems that CBD benefits are mostly similar across the board.
