Answering 6 More of Your Questions About CBD (image)

There are still more common questions about CBD to be answered. Many of these can be one of the reasons why some are still hesitant to try CBD for the first time. At Cali Greens, we want to empower people to improve their well-being and provide a method of doing so. Hopefully, by answering some of these questions you may have a better understanding of CBD.

Is CBD oil legal?

In short, yes, CBD is legal in the UK and many EU countries. But there are regulations as to what CBD is legal. For example, CBD oil must not contain any more than 0.2% of THC (a trace amount) as THC is an illegal compound. Most CBD is sourced from hemp plants which naturally contain less THC than other Cannabis plants.

In the UK, CBD can be legally sold as a supplement or as part of topical/vape products. It cannot be sold as a medicinal product as there is not yet enough evidence to support medical claims, thereby CBD products in the UK should not be marketed as aiding any medical conditions.

Is CBD Flower legal in UK?

Some may not know what a CBD Flower is, and that’s largely because CBD Flower is not legal in the UK. The bud of the cannabis/hemp plant which is known as the CBD Flower, contains high amounts of CBD and low amounts of THC. The flower is typically smoked but can also be used in cooking, tinctures, topicals and even vapes. It may seem a little odd that CBD Flower is not legal in the UK, as it easily contains less than 0.2% of THC, but currently regulations classify this part of the plant as Cannabis and is therefore a Class B drug.

How long does CBD stay in your system?

This really does vary on quite a lot of factors but generally, it is noted that CBD has a half-life in our bodies from 1 hour to up to 5 days. Half-life indicates how long it takes for the substance to be half eliminated in our bodies. But the amount of time it can take to stay in our bodies varies on the method used, how often you use it, your body and even what you eat.

For example, a higher CBD strength would naturally take longer to leave your body, and the more you use CBD the more your body gets used to it and holds it for longer. Similarly, if you have a high metabolism, chances are you’ll burn through CBD quicker than those who don’t. Likewise, if you eat before or when taking CBD, it can take longer to reach peak concentration but is typically higher than if taken on an empty stomach. Your body also gets rid of CBD slower if you are fed rather than during states of fasting.

Does CBD show up on drug tests in the UK?

Drug tests are typically looking for Cannabis and the key ingredients they look for are THC and metabolites. If you use CBD products, you should therefore not test positive for Cannabis on a drug test. This is because UK manufactured, and regulated CBD contains only trace amounts of no THC at all. Still, it’s important to ensure that you shop only from reputable sources and check the ingredients/lab reports for your CBD products as these will disclose the amount of THC in them. Some unregulated CBD products can contain up to 5% of THC, and when used regularly, could show as positive on a drug test.

Does CBD get you high?

CBD does not get you high for one very good reason – it doesn’t contain THC. The high element of Cannabis has been related to the compound THC which is also a psychoactive compound. As CBD products must contain less than 0.2% of THC to be legally sold in the UK, they should certainly not give you a high feeling.

Where can I buy CBD oil?

There are many places you can buy CBD in the UK from brick-and-mortar stores to online, including with us here at Cali Greens. It’s essential when you are choosing where to buy CBD from, that you are certain they are a reputable seller. You can often vet a CBD company based on their availability of lab reports which should show the THC levels of the products, and the reviews from previous shoppers. Transparency is key and making sure to take note of the ingredients of your CBD products can help make sure you don’t end up short-changed.

You can find the lab reports for our products here.
